Christian says, “'Atlantic crossing' is a modal tune with a light straight 8ths feel. I wrote this to get the kind of feeling of being alone on the quiet water. It features some wave sound effects in the brass and some room for your trumpet soloist to blow. A good teaching opportunity is the mixolydian scale and modal jazz as a whole."

That Look
Christian says, “'That Look' is a slow dance shuffle ballad feature for the alto saxophone. It’s a classic recognizable style that we, as professional musicians, play in all the time. The melody is very singable and the harmony goes some nice places. It’s a good opportunity to share with your students a little bit about being a musician as a career, and playing music for dancing."
